Who's behind Blue Corridors for Turtles
WWF
One of the world’s largest conservation organisations, active in over 100 countries. WWF initiated Blue Corridors for Turtles as part of its Global Marine Turtle Program and coordinates the initiative across its global network.
IUCN-SSC Marine Turtle Specialist Group
Recognised as the global authority on marine turtles, MTSG provides information on all seven species and guides the conservation strategies, priorities and tools the project ultimately supports.
Convention on Migratory Species
A UN environmental treaty with 133 Parties, providing the global policy platform for conserving migratory animals — including several regional instruments developed specifically for marine turtles.
University of Queensland
A global top-50 university whose Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation Science leads development of the Migratory Connectivity in the Ocean (MiCO) system, and provides the project’s connectivity analysis.
ShellBank
A global genetic toolkit that traces the origins of marine turtles and turtle products using DNA, supporting wildlife crime enforcement and providing the project’s genetic backbone.
State of the World's Sea Turtles
Established in 2003 and led by the Oceanic Society, SWOT compiles and shares sea turtle data through its publicly accessible database, maintained with Duke University’s OBIS-SEAMAP.
CLS Group
A subsidiary of the French Space Agency (CNES), CLS has pioneered satellite-based Earth monitoring since 1986 and processes geolocation data from over 100,000 beacons every month via its Argos system.
