Marine turtles are among the ocean’s most iconic species — yet 5 of the 7 remaining species are still threatened with extinction, and 44% of all migratory species, turtles included, are in decline. Blue Corridors for Turtles is the global initiative working to close that gap: combining genetic data from ShellBank with satellite tracking to map turtle migrations for the first time at a global scale, identify the populations most at risk, and define Important Marine Turtle Areas (IMTAs) for stronger, evidence-based protection.
